Frequently asked questions.

Everything customers ask most about Galvanix shutters — the materials, the finishes, motorisation, and how ordering works across the UAE and Oman.

About Galvanix

What makes Galvanix security shutters different from standard roller shutters?

Galvanix is the world's first manufacturer of the 100mm foam-filled interlocking slat — a hot-dip galvanized steel profile with an injected polyurethane core and a zigzag tongue-and-groove interlock. That combines security, thermal insulation, and quiet operation in a single shutter, where most roller doors are hollow single-skin steel or aluminium.

Where does Galvanix supply security shutters?

Galvanix manufactures and supplies across the United Arab Emirates and Oman, with a Dubai office in Deira and a showroom, shop, and warehouse in Umm Al Quwain.

Are Galvanix shutters suitable for homes as well as commercial and industrial buildings?

Yes. The range covers villa garages and residential frontages, retail and showroom shutters, and heavy industrial openings — with slat profiles and motors sized to each application, up to 12 metres wide.

How do I get a price for a Galvanix shutter?

Every shutter is made to order, so pricing depends on your opening size, slat profile, finish, and motorisation. Send your opening dimensions and application through the quote form and the team will prepare a specification and price.

Does Galvanix manufacture the shutters it sells?

Yes. Galvanix is a knowledge-based manufacturer that engineers and produces its slats, components, and finishes in-house, rather than reselling imported doors.

Products & range

Which slat profile should I choose?

The 100mm foam-filled slat is the flagship for the largest spans and best insulation, up to 12 metres wide. The 80mm foam-filled slat brings the same insulated, interlocking construction to mid-to-large openings, and the 80mm single skin profile is the balanced, anti-theft-rated choice for mid-sized residential, retail, and industrial doors up to 6 metres.

What is included as standard with a Galvanix door?

Every Galvanix door ships with three controls as standard — two wireless key-fob remotes and one wall switch — so it is ready to operate on day one. Additional remotes can be paired at any time.

What motor options are available?

Side-mounted motors are matched to the door weight in four capacities from 300 kg to 1000 kg, each with a manual chain override for power cuts. Lighter residential shutters can use concealed in-barrel tubular motors for quiet operation.

Can I add remote or smartphone control and safety sensors?

Yes. Options include rolling-code remotes, residential and heavy-duty wall switches, a GSM receiver that opens the door by call or SMS, infrared safety photocell sensors that auto-reverse on an obstruction, and an amber warning light that flashes while the door moves.

What are the shutter components made from?

The slats and guide rails are hot-dip galvanized steel; the rails add a 120 zinc coating and a 10 cm brush strip for quiet, dust-sealed travel. End caps are impact-resistant ABS, and the bottom seal is a flexible compound that compresses on ground contact to block dust.

Materials & engineering

Why does Galvanix use galvanized steel instead of aluminium?

Aluminium is lighter and cheaper to form, but it bends under load and corrodes at the joints in humid, coastal conditions. Hot-dip galvanized steel holds its geometry through years of daily cycling, and the zinc layer forms a sacrificial barrier that protects the steel beneath.

What do hot-dip galvanizing and the ‘120 zinc’ coating mean?

Hot-dip galvanizing bonds a zinc layer to the steel to resist rust and decay; ‘120 zinc’ refers to the zinc coating weight used on Galvanix guide rails and single-skin slats. It is what lets the steel survive moisture and the regional climate without warping or corroding.

Are foam-filled shutters better insulated and quieter?

Yes. The injected polyurethane core inside each foam-filled slat holds temperature against the outdoor swing and damps vibration, so the door runs noticeably quieter than a hollow profile and helps moderate heat transfer.

How long will the finish last in the UAE climate?

The 50-micron electrostatic polyester powder coat is engineered to resist direct sunlight for up to 10 years before fade or degradation — an important margin under the regional sun.

How thick and strong is the steel?

The 100mm foam-filled slat reaches 1.50 mm at the interlocking joint — the point that resists prying and impact — and the single-skin profile is anti-theft rated at 12.5 kg/m². Guide rails are 1.5 mm hot-dip galvanized steel.

Colours & finishes

What colours can Galvanix shutters be finished in?

The catalog offers 27 RAL finishes across signature, neutral, and earth tones, and any RAL colour can be matched beyond that. All finishes are applied with electrostatic polyester powder coating for a uniform, UV-stable surface.

Can you match a custom or brand colour?

Yes. Send the RAL code or the facade or brand colour you want and it can be matched. You can also download the full RAL chart from the colours page to specify your finish.

What is a dual-tone finish?

Dual-tone lets the inside and outside of the shutter read as two different colours — useful when the interior should match a room while the exterior matches the facade.

Will the colour fade over time?

The electrostatic polyester powder coat guards against fading and colour degradation and is engineered to resist UV for up to 10 years, so the finish keeps its appearance under direct sunlight.

Ordering, delivery & warranty

How does the quote process work?

Share your opening size, application, and preferred finish through the form. The Galvanix team reviews the specs and feasibility, then returns a clear specification and price. You can also call or email the team directly.

What information do you need for an accurate quote?

The opening width and height, where the shutter will be used (home, retail, warehouse, or industrial), the slat profile or performance you need, the finish or RAL colour, and whether you want motorisation and accessories such as safety sensors or a GSM receiver.

Which areas does Galvanix serve?

Galvanix supplies across the United Arab Emirates and Oman, operating from a Dubai office in Deira and a showroom and warehouse in Umm Al Quwain.

Are the shutters made to measure?

Yes — every shutter is manufactured to order for your specific opening, up to 12 metres wide, so dimensions, slat profile, finish, and controls are all specified per project.

What warranty do Galvanix products carry?

Galvanix warrants its products against defects in materials and workmanship, with a 12-month standard warranty on structural components, motorised systems, and the galvanized finish, and extended options available on request. Full terms are on the warranty policy page.
