GALVANIX

Engineering

A choice that defines security.

Galvanix shutters are built from heavy-duty hot-dip galvanized steel, engineered end to end for safety, insulation, and a finish that lasts.

Galvanized or aluminum?

The material decides how a shutter ages. Here is the difference, plainly.

Aluminum shutters

  • Vulnerable to pressure and impact
  • Corrodes in humid environments
  • Lighter, so it bends and loses shape

Galvanix galvanized steel

  • Hot-dip galvanized steel with 120 zinc
  • Resists rust, decay, and deformation
  • Structural stability and longevity

120zinc

Hot-dip galvanized coating resisting rust and decay

FAQ

Materials & engineering FAQs

How galvanized steel, the foam core, and the finish perform over time.

Why does Galvanix use galvanized steel instead of aluminium?

Aluminium is lighter and cheaper to form, but it bends under load and corrodes at the joints in humid, coastal conditions. Hot-dip galvanized steel holds its geometry through years of daily cycling, and the zinc layer forms a sacrificial barrier that protects the steel beneath.

What do hot-dip galvanizing and the ‘120 zinc’ coating mean?

Hot-dip galvanizing bonds a zinc layer to the steel to resist rust and decay; ‘120 zinc’ refers to the zinc coating weight used on Galvanix guide rails and single-skin slats. It is what lets the steel survive moisture and the regional climate without warping or corroding.

Are foam-filled shutters better insulated and quieter?

Yes. The injected polyurethane core inside each foam-filled slat holds temperature against the outdoor swing and damps vibration, so the door runs noticeably quieter than a hollow profile and helps moderate heat transfer.

How long will the finish last in the UAE climate?

The 50-micron electrostatic polyester powder coat is engineered to resist direct sunlight for up to 10 years before fade or degradation — an important margin under the regional sun.

How thick and strong is the steel?

The 100mm foam-filled slat reaches 1.50 mm at the interlocking joint — the point that resists prying and impact — and the single-skin profile is anti-theft rated at 12.5 kg/m². Guide rails are 1.5 mm hot-dip galvanized steel.
